My Earth Dream

Campaign Microsite

With Honda’s creation of an eco-focused Formula 1 racecar came a newfound desire to further their environmental efforts. To achieve this, BLITZ and Avenue A ¬| Razorfish teamed up to produce a microsite that would showcase Honda’s racecar while also revealing how small steps can lead to huge changes in the environment, and ultimately encourage visitors to take action.

The Honda “My Earth Dream” microsite enabled racecar enthusiasts to see the “green” RA 107 up-close with a 360-degree rotating view. As a way for viewers to partake in Honda’s global commitment to eco-friendly production, the car’s design finish is a map of the world with interactive components—by selecting a location on the car, users can make a pledge or view pledges from around the world to see how everyone’s contributions add up to a positive difference.

The team projected that the site would raise millions of pledges during the 2007 F1 Racing season alone, so BLITZ constructed it using a specialized framework connected to the fastest Flash remoting solution that was available at the time; this was the only architecture choice capable of maintaining proper performance and usability of the live site.

Though we faced an extremely aggressive timeline for construction of the unique backend and new features for this site, “My Earth Dream” was a huge success. The experience raised pledges from over 60 countries and prompted development of a Japanese version to continue promoting Honda’s environmental awareness efforts.

“Being a racing and car enthusiast myself, it was exciting to work with Honda to showcase their extreme efforts of turning a Formula 1 racecar into an environmental work of art.”
