Challenge
In 2007, Adobe introduced Creative Suite 3, a software bundle that included up to 13 different applications for cross-platform designers and developers. It was the largest product launch in their 25-year history. They needed a solution that would easily allow users to find the best possible bundle based on their needs. Not only was this Product Advisor going to be utilized within Adobe’s own site, it had to be created in a way that would allow Value-Added Resellers (VARs) to easily integrate into their own commerce-based destinations.
Solution
Adobe had traditionally used its vast amount of features to market its software suites. However, with so many new additions, the process in determining the right bundle could seem daunting. Using Flash and XML, BLITZ developed a Rich Internet Application (RIA) that dramatically simplified the shopping experience through clarity, honesty and speed. With a few simple clicks, users were able to find their bundle, receive upgrade options and download the trial online. Not only was the application designed to live on Adobe’s website, it was also utilized by VARs and Adobe sales teams and localized in six languages.
Results
Since its launch, the CS3 Product Selector has become the most effective lead-to-sale tool in Adobe’s history. In its first three months the application received approximately 668,000 unique visits — excluding VARs and external sales teams — resulting in 68 percent trial downloads.
