Challenge

To celebrate 25 years of innovation through software and technology development, Adobe wanted to showcase their vibrant history at the 2007 Adobe Max Conference — a convention that draws their most enthusiastic users. The solution had to allow for massive audience participation, and be nothing less than breath-taking. It was also asked that we make use of Adobe tools and technologies in the process.

Solution

By taking advantage of their Flash platform, we developed a holographic-like projection system that allowed users to create dynamic artwork using a Nintendo® Wiimote something that had never been done before. Convention-goers were invited to paint in pairs on the full-screen, invisible canvas. As they did, lavish designs were displayed in a way that presented a historic, nonlinear time line of Adobe’s achievements and break-throughs over the years. All of the designs were immediately uploaded to Flickr and e-mailed to those who participated.

Results

Since its debut at the Adobe Max conference where it was used nonstop and garnished more than 200 original pieces of Adobe Flash art, it has gone on to become a highlight at other shows and Adobe conferences around the world. In 2008, the advertising community honored the work by bestowing upon it one of the most coveted awards: a One Show Pencil.

“BLITZ is truly the best interactive agency I’ve ever been married to. The team they’ve provided us is easy to work with, professional, and innovative. They are the ‘it’ interactive agency in my book.”
